What will your answer be?
What would your answer be if a Tourist comes up to you in Long Street and ask you is this place safe? I think it is something to think about. Today, 04 February 2010 I walked in Long Street at about 14:30 and a oldish man came up to me and asked me: "Is this place safe at night, I just go here." Obviously he was a Tourist. He catched me by surprise. My answer was yes, in this area especially Long Street. This is the Street that has a night live and their are security all the time. He asked me: "What area in Cape Town is not safe, that area?"; he pointed towards Greenmarket Square side. I said yes, you will be safe it you stay in the bigger Streets. He thanked me and walked away. Did I answer correctly, I thought afterwards. I am a very patriotic person and positive and I am crazy about South Africa. Yes, we have our crime problems, but which country in the World hasn't. Today on KFM they spoke to Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear and they asked him what does he think about South Africa and does he feel safe. He said that a lot was said in the newspapers and on radio in London about how unsafe South Africa was before he came. He however said, he was in Cape Town last week and he is now in Johannesburg and he has never felt so safe in his life. If Tourist can say this about our beautiful country, I think we also need to think about how much we have here. What would you answer if I Tourist comes up to ask you is it safe here at night? Would you be a Patriot and promote your country?
